Wildflower, Lake San Antonio, U.S.A - May 6th 2007Dear Sponsors and Friends Well after finding out I had a Liver infection causing me all the problems in Arizona Ironman, I had been bed ridden for 10 days which just totally exhausted me. Tests were run to find out the problem and after time off and some medicine I was back into some training. I was feeling stronger everyday and two days before Wildflower I decided to race and see where I was at with my body. My day got off to a good start leading the swim with a group of guys and coming up on the beach in first only to get pipped on the timing mat by Brian Fleishman. I had a quick transition and as I headed out on the bike I knew up the first hill out of transition that it was going to be a struggle on the bike as I couldn't get my heart rate up. I didn't ride to my full potential but was enjoying racing again. I came off the bike in 13th Pro men's place and knew I could run hard on the dirt trails but my legs didn't really get going until 4 miles into the run when I started to catch the Pro's in front of me. I had a solid day and came over the line in 10th and was happy to feel like I had made a good step to full recovery. Kind Regards - Bryan Rhodes |
