Baja Ironman 70.3, Mexico - 21st of May 2006The Second 70.3 Ironman for 2006 - Baja MexicoDear Sponsors and Friends Sunday was the second race on my schedule in Baja, Mexico. I had travelled the 2 -3hr drive down from San Diego with a group of Pro's on Wednesday the 17th. My training had gone well from St Croix and I was pretty fired up to have a good race. I was rooming with Terenzo, which was great; we had a laugh or two and it took me back to when I was on the tour at 21 and did that make me feel OLD!! The race got off to a late start and I hit the lead in the Swim then Terenzo took over as I felt a little heavy in the first race with a wetsuit swim. I exited on his heals with Aussie Paul Mathews and after a long run to transition we were on our bikes. I felt OK on the bike and was hoping that I would have a good ride with no spokes or anything breaking but that was not to be. At the 25k mark my right Aero bar pad broke off which had been over tightened by the bike shop that serviced my bike after St Croix and I was left with a very awkward riding position which left my lower back all messed up. The ride was horrible and I lost a ton of time making me a spectator but hopefully that is the last of any problems on the bike. I ran comfortably and relaxed, as I was too far back to make a push for a top 5 position. I will be making double sure of any area's that may cause me problems in my next race. Race Results:
