St Anthony's Triathlon, U.S.A. - 24th April 2005First North American Race of 2005Dear Sponsors and Friends I left New Zealand on Thursday the 21st of April for my North American racing campaign and after 30hrs of Travel arrived 2 day's before the St Anthony's Olympic Distance Triathlon. I felt really good leading up to the race but when the gun went at 7am on Sunday the 24th it was all over 500 metres into the swim where I got hit and was dizzy from the time zones I had travelled; it was like racing at Midnight. I really cramped up on the Bike and just couldn't get comfortable at all, losing more time to the leaders where I thought I could hold my own. I wasn't going to pull out and gutted it out and even had a sprint finish for 20th place. The first race is always the hardest and I didn't go into it with high expectations I just wanted to be as competitive as possible. Now onto the next events. Take care and I hope to report on greater success soon. Kind Regards - Bryan Rhodes |
